Service Events:

First Friday in December – Angel Tree Project - We will be donating gifts and wrapping presents for children of parents who are incarcerated in prison.

  Bertha Holt Award

Bertha Holt was a pioneer in International Adoption. As the mother of 6 in 1955, she adopted eight Korean children after watching a documentary detailing the wretched conditions of orphaned children in that country. From this beginning and because of her compassion, the Holt International Children’s Services was established and has become the largest adoption agency in the world. Bertha Holt and her husband together set up orphanages in Asia, Europe and Central America.

As she traveled around the globe more than 3 times, she was greeted by her more than 100,000 grandchildren all over the world.

Bertha was named Oregon Mother of the Year in 1966 and in addition was named the National Mother of the Year by the Association of American Mother’s that same year. She was loved, honored, and recognized as a kind and generous person.

Each year the Bertha Holt Award is presented to a woman who has been selected by the Oregon Association of American Mothers who has distinguished herself in the field of family raising and nurturing.

  Leah Sauer Award

Leah Sauer is loved by the down trodden as well as those in high places. Through her 7 Step Prison Program she has brought friendship and hope to convicts serving time. For this outreach she was nick named the “concrete Mama” as she so often entered those concrete prison walls with her love and compassion. Leah has been an invaluable asset to her church, community and humankind.

She was named Oregon Mother of the Year in 1970 and worked tirelessly and continually to bring meaning, purpose and growth to this organization. It is common for Leah to write and send notes of love inspiration and uplift to those she sees who exemplify good works. She has truly served American Mothers with grace, dignity, humility and love. Each year the Leah Sauer Award is given to a worthy woman who carries on Leah’s legacy of service and compassion.
