Evening Of The Arts

September 24, 2010 at 8pm at the Old Church at 1422 SW 11th Avenue. Tickets are $10.00 at the door with a portion going to Artists for the Arts to support arts in the schools. A gallery of art, sculpture and paintings by Oregon mothers with guest performers in music and dance. Event open to the public and refreshments will be served.

     
 

Cultural and Creative Arts Competition Information, Requirements & Packet Forms:
 

Dear Women Artists,

I am inviting all of you to participate in at “Evening With the Arts’ sponsored by the Oregon American Mothers organization. It will be held on September 24, 2010 at 8:00 pm at the Old Church in Portland.

Each year at the National convention state winners are represented for the National Art competition. The theme is: “Strengthening Home and Family”. Winners are published on the National Web site and receive a cash award. That website is www.americanmothers.org.

The different categories for artwork mediums are:

#1 Oil or Acrylic Painting: on canvas, board, paper or any flat surface.

#2 Watercolor Painting: Watercolor, gouache, casein, or tempera on paper.

#3 Pastels: on canvas, board, paper or any flat surface.

#4 Sculpture (3-dimensional): Modeled, carved, cast, constructed, or assembled.

#5 Mixed Media ( and other 2-dimensional art): Collages, drawings printmaking (etching, silk-screen, woodcut, etc.)

#6 Photography: Black & White, color, experimental, Obtain consent to publish from your portrait subjects. Indicate on the entry form who developed and/or enlarged the prints. Submit a 8” by 10” photographic print for judging.

#7 Crafts – There are three (3) categories with a $200 prize in each:

1. Ceramics, jewelry & metal work
2. Textile & fabric design, quilts
3. Porcelain dolls, stained glass


#8 Computer Graphics: includes artwork that has been created, altered, combined, and/or manipulated on the computer. All artwork, photography and text used for the computer generated graphic image must be the original work of the artist. (Copyrighted material must not be used.) Computer lettering may be included.

There is a $25 entrance fee if you are selected to represent Oregon in the National competition. There will also be a luncheon held in November for the winners to talk more about the national competition and Gala event in February at the downtown Portland Hilton Hotel acknowledging all of the state winners.

We want to make it possible for more women artist to have this opportunity by increasing the scope of the show each year. Please tell other artists that you may know throughout the state or in Vancouver area.
