Academy For Mothers

Academy for Mothers Achievement Program

~ by and for American Mothers ~

Our purpose is to Strengthen the Moral and Spiritual Foundations of the Family and Home.

Instructions and Overview

Welcome to the Academy for Mothers. This goal-oriented program is designed to promote the growth and development of mothers as they strive to influence members of their families and their communities.

On the following pages are suggested goals in ten Areas of Achievement. Please consider the goals carefully. Be honest and introspective as you choose one goal from each of the Areas of Achievement. Choose two goals in the area of Relationships. Once you have selected your personal goals, commit to a plan of achievement. It may be helpful to discuss your plan with a friend or family member. Goals should be challenging but realistic. Keep an Academy Journal wherein you will write your goals and record your progress regularly. When you have completed each goal write a short report telling how the goal has help you personally and how it has strengthened your family. Track your progress on the Progress Report at the end of this booklet.

After accomplishing the outlined program, you will be recognized by American Mothers, Inc. (AMI) with a Certificate of Achievement. You may repeat the program but will receive only one certificate per year. Report your completed work to your local association Academy Chairman or contact the American Mothers, Inc. at the national office at 1-877-242-4AMI or info@americanmothers.org.

This program is a helpful aid in the pursuit of the lifelong learning process. Diligence in following your plan will help your goals become habits.

5th Grade Essay Contest

"What My Mother Means To Me" - National fifth grade essay contest

Attention Teachers, Students, and Parents

American Mothers, Inc. sponsors a yearly essay contest for all fifth grade students, in the public, private, and home school environments. The contest theme is "What My Mother Means To Me." This is a great way to enhance the students writing curriculum and a wonderful way for children to express their love and thoughts about "Mom."

Entries are accepted beginning every September 30 with a deadline to be handed into the student's teacher by February 10. Winners are announced at the end of March so that the States can plan to announce the winners in time for Mothers Day.

First, second, and third place winners are selected from individual State entries. These entries are sent in to compete in the National Fifth Grade Essay Competition. Recognition and prizes are awarded to first, second, and third place national winning essays at the yearly spring convention of American Mothers, Inc. (winners do not have to be present at the convention to win)

It is recommended that this program be administered by the teachers so that the total learning process of writing style, grammar, punctuation, penmanship, and content can be fully explored.
